Basically wondering is there any way to do this, can't update iPhone to ios13 as it says the Mac OS is too old.
Would prefer to keep the imacs as there running like clockwork awful pity if I have to retire them because of apple making anything sold before 2012 in compatible with new iPhones.

    Update on the phone.

Takes too much time. It's an everyday thing not just one phone that needs updating. If I can just have the one download on the Mac I can just load than onto loads of phones.
I could use windows but that causes another problem with different software that's just on the mac I need to use.

Cheers, doesn't sound like it's going to work for me. Think I'll just have to replace it for something made after 2012..

I’m contemplating buying an iMac too, and am realising the same.

Unless you really need a mac windows is much better if you build one yourself you'll have a way better machine for the money that's a lot easier work with anything not just apple products.
I use this machine for a specific software that doesn't work on windows so I've no choice.
Saying that if you can pick up a healthy iMac newer than 2012 you'll have a machine that'll probably last you years. I've got 10yrs out of this one without it shipping a heart beat and it's on 24/7. It's still perfect just apple after catching me out with an update for iPhone.

There's a 2015 one on adverts for €450, that's a good deal. Was going to buy it myself.
