Diesel particulate filter and the turbo.

This isnt a DIY question but I'm hoping a mechanic might know the answer.

I had the turbo replaced on my Ford Galaxy about a month ago.
This week the car wouldn't start and eventually the same garage discovered the fault was that the Diesel particulate filter was blocked, the engine detected the high temperature and wouldn't start.

Would the DPF be something thats ever looked at or changed regularly in a service? It seems to be linked to problems with the turbo too but nothing was said a month ago. It has had regular service and NCT .

I'd be grateful for any advice. Thanks

When the DPF blocks up the back pressure forces a lot of soot and ash back into the turbo, this can lead to early failure as the vanes get covered in that mix and don't like it.
