I have used Budget in town and Enterprise close to Windsor a few times with just one issue, Enterprise gave me a car with maybe half tank and I returned with a full tank.
Enterprise employee just said "tough ****" and fobbed me off.
Other than this certain wanker, that have since left, I am happy with their service.

what do ye do as regards the excess. Standard price seems fine then you add the excess insurance and it more than doubles it.

I either dont pay the excess and risk it or take 3rd party excess insurance
I think blue or chill do a €49 per year policy?

    +1 I paid AIG €49.99 in Feb. for a 12 month policy.

I see https://carhireexcess.ie/ offers cover up to 7500
AIG offers cover up to 5000

Tony Burke motors through Toyota daily rental app. Also gocar.ie

AIG max. per claim is 4,000, the max you can claim in 12 months is 5,000. carhireexcess.ie covers up to 7,500 in a singe claim and that's also their annual cap.

I'd frankly be worried about renting a car from anyone looking for me to cover an excess greater than 4,000. More to the point, I wouldn't rent a car from any such company. I rented a five door Opel Corsa from Europcar in Lanzarote last Feb. and the excess was only €870.

Gocar seems saucy enough. Lowest rate is 48 a day.
Looked at Toyota thing too and prices not great.

Ended up booking with enterprise. 18 Euro a day for a Ford Focus. Got excess insurance (which I will
also use on my summer hols)

In fairness, 18 Euro a day is not bad at all.

    Thanks for all the input.

Seems you can’t really choose between a petrol or diesel car, or maybe I just missed it on the website.
