Possible starter problem

    Hi my partners car (08 lancer) doesn't always start , when it doesn't it sounds as if the starter is spinning/whirring, it eventually starts after 5 or 6 trys.

    What could be the problem ? Would changing out the starter fix it ?

    So its not cranking the engine at all?

    No it makes a screech sound , but after 5 or 6 attempts of turning the key on and off it starts up

    Yeh sounds like starter then. If you can access it a few hits of a hammer can get it going and might help you be sure its the problem.
