    I have compiled the following list of what motorway projects I believe are needed for the next 20 years.

    SUGGESTED NATIONAL ROAD PROGRAMME 2020-2040 (MOTORWAYS)

    MOTORWAYS: MAJOR PROJECTS > 40km (NEW BUILD)
    M02 - Extension to Ardee
    M03 - Extension to Cavan
    M04 - Extension to Longford
    M07 - Extension to M50
    M20 - Cork to Limerick
    M21 - Patrickswell to Abbeyfeale
    M25 - Cork to Rosslare
    M45 - Leinster Outer Orbital Route
    M02 (NI) - Extension to Coleraine


    MOTORWAYS: INTERMEDIATE PROJECTS > 20km or > 10km Urban (NEW BUILD)
    M06 - Galway City Outer Bypass
    M22 - Ovens to Macroom
    M24 - Cahir East to Clonmel N76 Jct.
    M40 - Cork Northern Ring Route


    MOTORWAYS: MINOR PROJECTS < 15km (NEW BUILD)
    M05 - Castlebar East to Bohola
    M11 - Oilgate to Wexford
    M14 - Letterkenny to Lifford
    M28 - Cork to Ringaskiddy
    M01 (NI) - Dungannon to Ballygawley
    M22 (NI) - Randalstown to Castledawson


    MOTORWAYS: UPGRADE FROM GRADE SEPARATED DC (MAJOR CIVIL WORKS)
    M03 - Castleknock (M50) to Clonee
    M04 - Jct. 13 to Jct. 15
    M11 - Jct. 6 (Bray) to Jct. 12
    M18 - Jct. 4 to Jct. 6



    MOTORWAYS: RE-DESIGNATED FROM HQDC (MINOR CIVIL WORKS)
    M01 - Dundalk to Newry
    M02 - Finglas (M50) to Cherryhound
    M04 - Jct. 15 to Jct. 17
    M06 - Oranmore to Galway
    M11 - Jct. 12 to Jct. 14
    M18 - Jct. 6 to Jct. 9
    M18 - Jct. 1 to Jct. 4
    M22 - Jct. 1 to Jct. 3

    Why do you have
    M01 (NI) - Dungannon to Ballygawley
    down as a New Build? It would surely fall under either 'Upgrade from DC or Redesignated from DC as it is an excellent quality DC as it stands?

    Also how do you calculate the M2 upgrade to Colerane, is that a brand new motorway running from the M22-M2 split (as originally planned) or again do you actually mean Upgrade from DC, and do the badly needed A26 upgrade M2-M2(Ballymena) and then much simpler upgrade of A26 Ballymena-Drones Road, then motorway onward to Colerane (approx 22km)?

    A lot of the proposals I can see HQDC being an easier sell.
