I need to run electricity to an outside shed and the channel will be going under a road (with a light tarmac surface). I would also like to run water at the same time.
Is this a job I could tackle myself, what depth should it be and what conduit should I use for the electricity?

    Public or private road?
What kind of traffic will it see?

If I’m honest, based on the questions your asking, I would say no, it’s not something you could tackle yourself.

There is different depths for roads and paths I can’t remember them right now.

Will you also need drain/soil waste pipe.

I wouldn’t tackle it yourself itd need to be built a certain way to stop collapsing in on itself leading to a big puddle in the middle of the road that never goes away.

Ok, I think this calls for professional help!
I don't need a waste pipe - that will be going out the other side.

Is the road an existing road ? If so you'll need someone with a pipe moling machine . Save you alot of hassle .

They have given me a quote of €1800 to do this!
(Probably because of the distance involved - they are in Carrickmacross and I'm in Sligo (Tubbercurry)

To dig up a public road you'd need a road opening licence from the council.

    some info here:

    ESB

    Water

If is private land keep i'd suggest 4" Duct and lean mix back on top of pipes at road crossing,
