I leave the car with open windows and alarm def off.
Return a few mins later and the alarm is ringing.

I didnt enable it, it was def off when I left it.

Poor passenger is morto after opening the door on a hot day awaiting my return.

    * The one thing I did do ages ago was point the sensor sideways so it doesnt go on on people in the car, but I dont think that has anything to do with the car engaging the alarm in the first place. Unless it "sees" no one and thinks its doing me a favour ....

    Am I doing something wrong?

Are you doing anything to lock your door when you exit the car?

    Is the alarm aftermarket?

    > NO

    Is the alarm aftermarket?

    > Its Honda on board AFAIK

There is a possibility that the fob is arming the car as I walk away (faulty fob). I’m swapping to a spare FOB but the battery is low so I’m going to get new batteries

While you are away from the car with the key does the person in the car hear the hazards flicker to indicate the alarm is armed?

Any chance the person in the car is using the central locking on the car when you have left?

I'd say that its the siren alarm battery that has gone flat, and is triggering the system.
Its in the boot drivers side behind the subwoofer panel in the rear. The battery is small and has 6 Nimh Cells in it.
They are cheap enough to buy from here

    Update ....

The car enables itself within a minute
It’s the same as if I hit the key fob

Locks drop and lights blink three times

I’ve moved the keys out of range - same happens

Total pain for any unfortunate passenger who is left in the car without keys ...

    Update / Work around

Take keys from ignition and leave car and close door
Put keys in door lock and rotate anti clock wise to "tell" the car mechanically to leave the alarm off

    All ok, car doesnt lock
