bit of a finger in air question this... this (was) a nice working van, had her in the family for years, 205k miles done I ran it first for 6 years & passed her along to my bro in law who's had her last 5 anyway couple of weeks ago he had an incident which sounds to me like he's lost all the coolant as he was driving her…

bit of a finger in air question this...

this (was) a nice working van, had her in the family for years, 205k miles done
I ran it first for 6 years & passed her along to my bro in law who's had her last 5

anyway couple of weeks ago he had an incident which sounds to me like he's lost all the coolant as he was driving her along, clearly didn't realise it was happening & I reckon he drove it too far to a stop (the way he tells it loud clanking noises, dead, & a trail of water on road etc.)

called around last night, he has it back on driveway
no outward evidence of oily bits/catastrophe but engine defo seems seized to me

I'm just trying to do the quick maths to get him back on the road again asap.

apart from the van almost having been a member of the family I'm seeing that decent bargain secondhand vans are difficult to come by, I'm just wondering if it would be worth either taking the lump out & repair/replace.have heard engine swaps on T4's are difficult
