Does it exist? I’ve recently connected a dish to my sat enabled Samsung TV. But on bitting the text button it says NOT AVAILABLE. Changing the TV from UK to Ireland opens analogue p888 subtitles.

    Any ideas...?

I'd be really surprised if Aertel is still a thing

Aertel is indeed still a thing (available on Saorview anyway, I don’t know about satellite)

Saorsat website says it should be there: https://www.saorsat.ie/ "The TV channels available on SAORSAT are RTÉ One, RTÉ2 HD, RTÉ News Now, RTÉjr, RTÉ One +1 and TG4, together with RTÉ's radio stations and digital Aertel."

It still exists on RTE via Sky.

Only if you connect via SCART though.

Maybe the TV isn’t decoding it. Not sure.

Is the TV expecting to load WST teletext when you hit text OP? The Digital Aertel service is not a teletext service at all (no matter how many times RTE might refer to it as such), it is an MHEG-5 application, and your TV will need the right middleware to run it.

The original WST Aertel now only exists on Sky (if you connect via SCART) and Virgin Media analogue, where it hasn’t been switched off yet (very few places left to go at this stage).

Ive tried both UK and Ireland tuning settings and the digital version isn’t showing. On an LGtv with built in sat tuner, there is no text or EPG. I suppose they arent “approved”.

As best I can tell from my gear, Saorsat only has the old 888 subs. No DVB subs so presumably no other pages either.
