Time in Lieu while in a temporary position

    I've been offered a 3 month position in something I am very interested in, with the possibility of them extending beyond that if there's more work. I'm really looking forward to it but there is one thing that I am a bit worried about, there will be a lot of overtime on weekends but the company's policy is to give time in lieu instead of paying for overtime hours, what would happen if I built up a bunch of hours doing weekends and the company chooses not to extend the position?

    Fairly sure they would then have to pay you for those days. However I expect that if the company are not going to keep you on that you'll just been given the time in lieu before the end of your 3 month contract and you will be told you aren't being kept on.
