They do great sport coverage but apart from that I can't say I ever tune in.

Yes their sport has to be given credit, they did five days racing from Listowel this week and showed every race each day.

Is any of Dee's friends/relations working there?

Fritzkelly, I’m not sure what your question is about or what relevance it has to this thread, and there will be an automatic warning for anyone that answers it

Isn't there a decline in television generally?

Why watch tv when scheduled when you can watch anything worldwide on demand?

I tend to avoid it as the picture quality is appalling on Saorview.

Here in N. Ireland we have the luxury of watching TG4 on Freeview via NIMM or on Saorview. The Freeview version is better quality due to its transmission method.

Interestingly their audience share is up this year so far, This month they had a 2.2% share and averaging 1.87%, largely stagnating in terms of audience since 2014, same can be said of all Irish TV channels, in total getting 42 - 45% share across all channels.

You'd need to know how well repeats of Gilmore Girls do in comparison to new shows like Catch 22 and Mr. Robot, also TG4's morning programming is children's TV.

It's a very short and basic report from the Irish Examiner, you'd wonder why they bothered.

I think TG4 needs more funding to be able to compete with Netflix and Apple tv+.

There isn't much more information in that report either, it's based on outdated data and on a report that was publish during the summer.

There are issues with TG4 programming line up in the last 10 years IMO, I think as you point out the repeats of some shows are questionable, whatever about The Gilmore Girls (you'd be surprise at its following) why The Weakest Link? But then they choose some excellent international programmes.

Some of their own commissions in recent years haven't been as great as before. And that has nothing to do with money.

Yeah they definitely aren't as innovative as they used to be, they haven't done anything for the teen market in years

This x 1,000,000. Whatever about the arguments for the Virgin channels not being in HD on Saorview because of extra costs to a privately run company, a public service broadcaster like TG4 should be in HD on Saorview, period. No excuses whatsoever.
