Why would a BMW dealer be selling one of their cars with a Mapfre warranty? You sure it wasn't one of their Assured Used Cars which comes with a 2 year BMW warranty.

Also you don't mention the year so it's hard to tell if 33k is good or bad but you can be sure its not going to be cheap if being sold by a BMW dealer, they have plenty of margin built into their prices.

sorry everyone 161 . I did ask and he said it was motor store to sell

If he is not selling a 3 year old 4 Series as a BMW Assured Used Car then I'd tend to look at something else as for a 3 year old BMW to not meet the criteria of the BMW AUC warranty would concern me. The fact they are not standing over the car themselves would also concern me. Mapfre warranties are full of exclusions on what they will and won't cover, plus they will only cover actual failures as opposed to the 2 year BMW AUC warranty which pretty much covers everything, 31k is too much money to be spending on something with a 3rd party warranty. You might as well save a lot more money by cutting out the middleman and importing yourself, and taking out a mapfre warranty yourself at that rate.

    thanks bazz.
when I asked him he said a mapfre warrant. I was shocked on a 33000 euro car . I taught myself the car to be worth maybe 27000 euro . I was wondering why it wasn't in the main bmw dealership rather than the motor store found the salesperson to be useless to say the least

    Head to UK and import.
    You're being robbed.

The only real reason to buy from a main BMW dealer is for the 2 year used car warranty otherwise look elsewhere.

This one is 3k cheaper and I'd bet the warranty would be better than the Mapfre one:

Isn't the 4series a bit dated now though? Any plans for a new model?

The OP is buying a 2016 car so it's not really relevant.

These carstore things seem to be popping up more kearys and Finbarr galvins in cork both have them.

It's another way of these big franchises to offload their trade-ins that they normally would not retail on their branded forecourts. They would normally sell these cars through the trade.

Sounds like crazy money for one.

    Kearys have a 2016 430d with over 100k miles for 31900.

But by the sounds of Colm Quinn’s- still charging the full main dealer bells and whistles prices without the full main dealer BMW experience

yes it was very full price ! Plus the fact he was offering very little on my trade in the lowest trade in price I was getting...wasn't too impressed at all by the salesperson

Probably wasn't an experienced BMW salesman so hadn't a clue about them- certainy not in the detail you'd expect at those prices.

There's a new used dealer after popping up down the road from me (UK import stuff) charging eye watering money for cars parked on a grassy area in front of an older indutrial unit. And no obvious garage service area. I certainly wouldn't be bothered spending that kind of money without the back up

Colm Quinn Motorstore is a completely separate business to Colm Quinn BMW. The only thing they have in common is the owner.

When I was buying my own car in Colm Quinn's, they'd only just recently opened the new "Motor Store" at the time. The salesman I was dealing with was ringing a guy in that Motorstore to price my trade in (and of course, they completely low balled me). So basically, they opened that business largely to stock cars they take in as trade ins that BMW won't allow them to stock on the main forecourt.

The fact a 3 year old BMW isn't been retailed by them on their own BMW forecourt would be enough to put me off, not to mind the fact they are only offering a 3rd party insurance warranty policy on it and asking main dealer forecourt price for it. There are cheaper options with less risk out there to be dealing with that horse trading.

It's the mileage I'd say, as far as I know they can't retail anything with more than 100,000kms on it as a 'premium selection' and especially only a three year old one with close to the limit, it's probably easier to retail in whatever place they have. Some of the BMW dealers in Dublin do the same, even the same type of warranty is offered. Price aside, it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the car, it just doesn't meet the strict BMW Ireland criteria.

I was looking at a 3 year old BMW last week with over 100k km and the 2 year warranty was on it. Think the limit on used stock is 160k km.

If that's the the case there's another reason it's not covered. Could be service history maybe? It's a saleable car so there has to be a reason.
