I used one of these pay at the pump screens/card machines for the first time yesterday. I was prompted to choose a maximum amount and selected 50euro knowing I was going to fill the tank. The pump cut off at 43.39, when the tank was full. My card was debited for 50euro.

Having never used the system before I expected to be charged for the amount used not for this maximum amount regardless of whether I reached it or not...will the difference be refunded? Or will I get anywhere by calling into the shop? I have a receipt showing the amount of fuel and its cost.

Seems like an expensive bit of convenience if I won't see the 6.61 refunded...
