Apparently there's a relaunch going on, however the shocking part of it is I'm listening to the radio and they are trying to explain to listeners was a walkman was / is...

    Feck I feel old...

Does anyone here even remember cassette tapes?

Even undoing the rats nest clog using a pencil??

You're on Boards, man, not Instagram. Of course we remember tapes!

I had a cheap Alba...whatever the model name was, probably TapeMan or something sh*t like that.

Walkman was one of those great brand names that became synonymous with every other personal stereo on the market.

    Just like Hoover, Biro and.....eh.....Durex?

    I had one of these.

Mine is all black though and has "Walkman II" on teh front.. Saved up for nearly a year for it. Mad expensive. Still have it and it still works. Dunno where the external battery pack and earphones went though.

What I thought was sweet about the early walkmans was they usually had two headphone jacks so two people could listen to the same tape.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

My first walkman was a Sanyo that my Dad got one each for my two older sisters and myself for Christmas 1983. Was a huge clunky thing but I loved it and still have it.

And I believe it still works. :)

The original walkman is 40 years old this year. Think about that...

I had a grey and yellow sports Walkman, it was like carrying around a brick.

I think they were waterproof, or at least claimed to be.
