    * Mods - apologies if I have added to incorrect forum *

    Hi all,

Just seeking a bit of advice / feedback - I was clamped over the weekend.

    Summary below:
    - I parked in a DCC car park, with parking enforcement by a private company
    - Day rate for parking is €5, and I counted up the coinage for same, and inserted to machine etc.
    - Got ticket and put in car, and went on my merry way
    - Came back to find the car clamped, the ticket read that I had only put €4.80 into machine, not €5
    - I am 100% sure that I put €5 into the machine, I am always wary of getting these things wrong and get clamped
    - I believe that the machine didn't register 1x 20c coin, and am sure that it went into the cash box machine (and didn't come out the coin receptacle)

Therefore a differential of 20c cost me €125 in clamping charge.

I appealed this and received stock answer reply that appeal was not granted.

Should I just give up and accept this as a lost cause? Leaving aside the argument that it was a quite a harsh thing to happen, I am crystal that I put €5 into the machine, and that it swallowed €5 in coins even if it didn't register the full amount. Obviously I am unable to prove this though.

I fully appreciate that I should have checked the parking slip to ensure it had registered €5, not €4.80, but due to rushing I didn't.

Any pointers / advice here much appreciated.

    Thanks Folks.

Sometimes the machines reject a coin which is usually accepted on re-inserting the coin. This is more than likely what happened here.

Same happened me at the m4 toll a few weeks ago

Unless the ticket displays the correct amount of €5, then I don't think that you have a chance to re-appeal again unfortunately.

Did you look at the ticket for the end time?

Does the ticket from the machine not have the amount paid on it
