One radiator not heating?

    Hi,

I have one radiator that just won't heat, the other radiators are piping hot.

I went around the other radiators and removed any air from them, but this one in particular won't heat at all, not even the slightest.

I had a plumber around who said there was air in the system (something along them lines) and he removed the radiator from the wall, emptied all the water out and put it back on the wall.. a few weeks later it's not working again.

I added two new radiators a few months back - not sure if this makes any difference.. maybe the gas boiler isn't powerful enough to run all the radiators?

Do I need a new radiator?

Unlikely that you need a new radiator.

What type of radiator valves do you have?

Can you post a picture of the valves on the radiator that's not heating?

Try turn all of the other radiators off and make sure that the valves on each side of the radiator not heating are both fully open (anti clockwise) turn on the boiler at a lower heat and see if anything changes.

I'm unable to turn one of the valves on the radiator as it's missing the the plastic cover, I tried to turn it using a set of pliers but wasn't successful. Can you buy the plastic covers for the valves?

I've not changed any settings since the plumber took the radiator off the wall, removed the water fitted it again. It worked fine for a few days and stopped.

Both valves need to be at least partly open for any rad to word. The one with the dummy cover is not for adjustment, and is typically set when the system is initially balanced. In your case, you really need to establish if this valve is closed so get a visegrip onto the top of the spindle and try turn anti clockwise. Hopefully it moves and that’s your problem,if it’s fully open, it will only allow you to turn clockwise, which means your problem is elsewhere, assuming of course that the opposite valve is fully or partly open. This is your first port of call.
