Called to JobPath but full time self employed

My income is supplemented with JA because it's low income, I did the BTWEA for 2 years and have been in receipt of JA for two years since coming off BTWEA so 4 years running my business now.

I received a letter to attend JobPath. I rang the number and I was told to take the issue up with my local SW office. I was shoved around from one internal phone line to another where no one there seemed to know the answer.

I eventually got someone in Activation? who said self employed are not required to attend JobPath, to ignore the letter, not to attend the meeting and wait for the Seetac to return my details to them and they would get back in touch with me then.

I got a failure to attend letter yesterday with another second chance to attend letter attached for Jobpath.

I am weary about ignoring this but I cannot find anything about self employment and JobPath anywhere.

All it says is that JObpath will help you find full time employment or self employment. I AM FULL TIME SELF EMPLOYED!! I may not make huge amounts of money yet but I am doing all I can, I take no holidays, I'm constantly exhausted as my job is very physical and they have the neck to hassle me when others do absolutely nothing and NEVER seem to be bothered by these schemes, its so unfair.

Has anyone any advice they can give me please, I'm totally stressed out about this.

My gf is in the same situation, she is full time self employed and stressed out with her work. She isn't earning much so she has assistance from Social welfare. She attended Seetac 2 years ago before going self employed. She has been there, done that... She is self employed since August 2019 and they are sending her back to Seetac again ????? For what reason we don't really know. She went up to the social welfare office to query the letter and they told her that self employed people who are getting assistance are now required to attend seetac... I thought Seetac was for unemployed persons ?

She was told that if she does not attend her payment will be reduced, that's sad considering she has a business she has been working so hard on and they are prepared to F it up for her if she doesn't attend Seetac again for another year. It is not fair, they are taking her away from her business so they can do what ? Find her another job ? She has a fecking job ! The social welfare told her it is to help her "sustain" her job and they can offer her "training".. She doesn't need training, she knows what she is doing and any training courses were take her further away from her commitment to her job!

Why the hell is the state prepared to send her to Seetac at an enormous cost of what i believe is 45k. That's insane money, why can't they offer her some funding for her business instead ? She needs help with her website etc and they are not prepared to give her any funding to assist her in this way. Instead they prefer to spend 45k sending her back to effing Seetac !

Her appointment is for Feb 18 and we are trying to find a way out of this for her before she ends up signing another years contract with Seetac.

Does anyone know anything else about this ?

If your GF is getting JSA then she is looking for and available for full time work.

If she’s looking for and available for full time employment and she’s not having any success finding a full time job then she is being referred to Seetec so they can assist her in finding full time work.
The problem here is her misunderstanding the terms and conditions attached to getting a Jobseekers payment.

She is self employed, it's a supplemental payment she gets with social welfare. She isn't looking for full time job as a PAYE. She has a job so what do you mean ? Self employed people are employed people, they just work for themselves.

The only SW payments she may be entitled to could be BTWEA or STEA. Which is it?

Its not BTWEA, she was refused it. It's something else but it's the same amount that she was getting when she was unemployed. 203 Euro

There isn’t any other payment that allows someone to be self employed and getting SW at the same time. I’m thinking she’s been on on STEA and her 9 months is up so she’s back on Jobseekers and will have to be looking for and available for work again so back to Seetec.
SW don’t have a payment to supplement self employed people apart from these 2.

No, that is incorrect. A self employed person who has income below a defined threshold can be in receipt of JSA, as can an employed person who has seasonal work or few hours.

Yeah but you are declaring that your low income is because the business can't get enough work and you are doing less than 20 hours a week and less than 3 days a week and that you are looking for additional work.

Yeah but you are declaring that your low income is because the business can't get enough work and you are doing less than 20 hours a week and less than 3 days a week and that you are looking for additional work.

No it purely based on an assessment of income. They do not look at your hours of work.

This still open? Did anyone find any information? Same boat here. Only I havent officially started my business yet but was working on it for 2 years on the back to work allowance.. was put on hold due to covid 19 so had to go back onto job seekers and got referred to these cu*nts almost immediately. It is supposed to be at random but it was fairly fishy how they targeted me. And from what I gather how they target others. I know one thing though that they are a pack of bullies. Dont sign anything with them. Give them as little effort as possible as you are only obligated to engage with them and nothing else. I'm very surprised they are still operating and not in jail with all of the feed back and there success rate and reputation. Seems like the government would rather piss away ade tax money and cover for them.

Unfortunately its not Random, if anyone is in receipt of a jobseekers payment, regardless if its a reduced payment they'll be referred to the jobs activation scheme.

There's a major push on, particularly as people transition from PUP, by the department to get claimants onto either Jobspath or Pathways schemes.

I agree the Jobspath (seetac & Turas Nua) an absolute farce, To early to know how the pathways concept will go but early feedback, pretty dreadful.

Is maith an scáthán súil charad.

I was referred to jobpath. I mentioned to the lady that all my calls were recorded, just like the seetec answering machine says all their calls may be recorded. She declined to talk to me. The app is available on Android called cubeacr

I am on jsa since April.before I even got my first payment I got a phone call from seetac.I had previously been on carers allowance and this had ceased in April. In the Feb I passed my psv exam as I knew the carers allowance was finishing and I wanted to go self employed..I explained this to the lady from seetac when I received the call in april.I explained my next step was garda vetting and that to do that I had to register as self employed so as to obtain dine documentation I needed to do that..And that then it would take up to 3 months for vetting...that there was nothing seetac could help me that any paperwork I needed for vetting could only be obtained by me..She insisted I had to sign a progression plan otherwise my payment could cease and that I also had the choice to sign a contact preferences form..I ticked yes to the progression plan purely out of fear that my payment could be stopped but refused to tick yes to the contact preferences. When I sent it back she came back to me and said that the question which says is optional which is contact preferences isn't optional like it states that I must sign it...so I refused..still telling her the self employed road im going down can't be done by anyone except me...I got onto my local welfare office who were in agreement and who understood completely that I should never be sent to jobspath and that it was a random picking..I hadn't even received my first payment when I was referred..An officer from DSP sent an email to seetac and had it cancelled...I have since registered for self employment and have sent all my paperwork in to garda vetting and hopefully I will have my license in the next few weeks...My welfare office told me once I went self employed seetac would be permanently cancelled.. last Friday I once again received a call from seetac saying I was once again randomly selected to go to them...I explained all my paperwork which I got together myself which nobody else could do was now gone into the garda vetting office...when it comes through there is still nothing they can do for me...They cannot find me employment because I'm now self employed and getting ready to work with no help from anybody..I went back to my welfare office and they emailed seetac again and the reply was that they will not let me go that I'm now going to be entered into a program with them...I've made an appointment with my local TD to see if he can help me get away from these people in any way at all...
