Closing bank fees

I recently changed banks due to crazy quarterly fees. When I requested the old account to be closed they said I owe close to 50quid for this quarter again. What can happen if I don't pay this fee? Credit score wise will I be effected? I am closing the account so have no more need for it.

they will leave you account overdrawn until its paid

eventually closing it and blacklisting you
