I currently have no linkedin profile photo, and I don't really have anything suitble.

A question for recruiters and hiring managers.

Is it worth stumping up the the €50-75+ for a photo? Are you more likely to hire someone with a full profile. Is there any photographers that people would recommend in Dublin?

Why do you need to pay €50?
Can you not just get a photo of you at some formal/semi formal event and upload that? I think the ones with professional photos look a bit boke TBH.

    * I'm in no position to talk - I've no photo on my profile either!!!!

If you're in North Dublin tomorrow afternoon I'll do it for €20 whilst I'm doing a different job.

Headshots are not difficult and only take 5 minutes, but as above, any joe soap random photos will do the job. It does look better to have a "proper" photo, but you don't want them to look over the top either. You want clean and crisp, simple background.

(In my opinion - suppose it depends on what area you work in etc, Ironically, most of the photographers I know have crappy photos. We really should all meet up someday and do each other's portraits).

You can get a decent headshot with a phone camera, though. It's not incredibly hard.

LinkedIn has gone to hell in a basket to be honest. I rarely ever open it now. It was once a great website but now the only posters are bloody weirdos who are just addicted to the corporate dream and will waste their lives telling everyone how interesting and progressive they are. LinkedIn has somehow adopted all the ills of social media.

As a hiring manager, a photo on a LinkedIn profile isn't important.

To be honest I think if you put on a suit, or even just a nice shirt depending on how formal you want to appear then get someone to take 10-20 photos of you in a formal-ish looking setting that could be an office and then pick the best looking of them that should be fine. No need to fork out €50 or go to any great rounds unless you are looking for a job as a male model or TV presenter.

If you really want to put a photo up, put on a suit or other smart attire.
Get a friend to take a few photos of you on your phone.
    Select the best one.

    All for free.

I do agree with the sentiment about Linkedin, however recruiters do use it so its worth keeping your profile up to date. You don't need to interact, comment/post etc on it. Makes no difference.
I've in the middle of changing jobs as I was approached via my linkedin profile by an employer directly. I went through the interview process and got the job.
