Anyone else knocked for six with a bad Cough Infection??

Am in bed since last Wed with the mother of all coughs. Got to the Doctors on Thursday and am onSteroids, penicillin and cough bottle ... but Cough is just as bad. Can't sleep as the flem makes me lift out if the bed with the strain of coughing.

Am due back tomorrow and will have to go in. But will probably go back to Docs to say that last stuff never worked.

Anyone else out with a chest /Cough infection??? Is it doing the rounds or am I just unlucky??

I have never heard a chest infection called a cough infection before. Nevertheless, I'm fine.

Hope you feel better soon, plenty of fluids and rest. Give an antibiotic 5 days to work.

Spent the last 5 days written off with it and still not fully recovered.

Yep, couple of people from work have something like this. Antibiotics have no effect and they have been going back to doctor again and again.

I was given Clarithromycin, it got rid of the worst of the cough in 2 days.

Have a cold all right but it's just a head cold. Felt a bit sh1t but improved now. Hopefully that's not one of those false feeling better things before it gets worse. I find Nurofen Cold & Flu plus nasal spray good.

I wouldn't go back to work with something like this but instead go back to doctor. Sounds like chest infection to me. Hopefully a different antibiotic might be more effective. You really should have had a sputum sample (for culture) sent off to the lab in order to prescribe the best one. Drinking plenty of fluids is important though.

Of course it's it's due to a virus then none will work!
