    Hi,

I recently opened a dispute with a service provider because they did not provide the service.

I emailed them directly via the Paypal resolution centre.

The vendor came back and said they cannot issue a refund unless we resolve the issue first ??

This sounds a bit dodgy no ? If I close the case and they dont pay me what come back do I have ?

    Should I just escalate ?

    Thanks
    Rob

DO NOT close the claim. You will have no mechanism to pursue them via PayPal if you do. Once you close it, you CAN’T reopen it.

No matter what they say, the claim should stay open until you have a refund.

Let PayPal get back to you.

Did you try and resolve previously?

    Thanks folks,

All I have done so far is contact them via PayPal.
They asked me to close the case so they could refund me, I knew this was a ploy surely.

If they dont refund me within the next day or so, I will escalate it I think

A simple "thanks for confirming that you will issue a refund. Please do so - that will close the case automatically".

It's a total ploy to get themselves off the hook. If you close a case for a refund, they don't have to refund you anything and PayPal will not entertain you if you try to get one opened again on the same transaction.

Insist on a full refund. In any case, PayPal will side with you. You'll get the refund, so just bide your time. And make sure you absolutely crease the seller with negative feedback anywhere you have the opportunity to leave it.
