    Hi all

Thinking of purchasing one of the above up North in the next few weeks, looking around the 100-110k miles.

Is there anything in particular to look out for on these? I will be buying from a dealer (with some sort of warranty) so most likely won't have the car looked over by an independent mechanic. I have heard the timing chain needs to be done around 100k so will enquire about this, but have also heard of potential issues with the timing chain tensioner and ERG plugs?

    Thanks

The 1.6 is a belt anyways.

A warranty on a 7 or 8 year old car will only be as good what is covered under it and the dealer honoring it so I wouldn't take it for granted that just because it has a warranty that it doesn't need to be mechanically inspected before buying. Alot can happen to a car over 8 years and some dealers are poorer than others at after sales. It's also a lot easier to get issues spotted by an inspection fixed before handing over money.

And both have a timing belt but I'd still choose the 2.0TDi over the 1.6 TDi as it has more power and is nicer to drive. Running costs would be similar on both.

2 litre 6 speed all the way, by far the better car.

Great thanks guys, I was thinking the 2.0 would be a better option to be honest. I see from a Google search many companies offer vehicle inspection services, is there any one in particular people tend to recommend?
