Draft and Noise through Vents

I want to block some vents in my house.
There are serious chilly breezes already created by them, and the noise from outside is seriously distracting.

What’s the best way to block them?
I was thinking of just stuffing them with fiberglass insulation so it’s not permanent.
    Will that block the noise?

I’m not worried about ventilation in the affected rooms.

    Apt username.

Something like a t shirt ball up would be better than fibreglass if that’s the route you want to take.

Considerable foresight to pick that username 171 posts ago. :pac:

Why are you not concerned about ventilation in the affected rooms?

My first post was about a different vent issue-retro fitting them in other rooms.
The irony is not lost on me.

There are other methods of ventilation in the affected rooms.

The vent covers are badly fitted and not the type that can be opened and closed.

    I will try old clothes.

    Thanks for the replies.

Vents are there for a reason. It might be illegal & dangerous to block the vents. For example if you have a gas appliance as a backboiler & you block the vent you can kill yourself or family members from carbon monoxide poisoning. Even without the carbon monoxide thing blocking the vents can trap moisture in the air and cause mould to grow in the house. Mould sopres can be dangerous for anyone with asthma.

Bottom line is you should get a professional to inspect before you block any vents.

    Don't block them.

The country is full of idiots with bronchitis and asthma due to doing exactly what your proposing.

Its actually growing issue rather than going away considering we have 'newer' better designed homes.

    Go figure....

try replacing with "black hole" vents - they have a baffle inside them to reduce draughts and noise.
