Queue etiquette??

I was at the cinema with my partner and her child today, where I got into a verbal altercation with some other customers. As expected, the cinema was quite busy and a long enough queue had formed. There were 2 tills open at the time and the queue was forming at first till, but not the second.

However, the 2nd till was serving people from the top of the same queue also. Naturally enough, I went straight to the second till to avoid the queue. I had already bought a of sweets from tesco and the child has ADHD so does not like to wait.

As soon as a couple of busy bodies saw this, they immediately objected and accused us of skipping. One loud mouth even came over to the till and started barking at server for serving us. I tried to explain that I wasn't queuing for the first till and to mind her business.

I don't understand the problem here? Its not our fault all the other customers queued up like sheep at the first till. Whats the etiquette here?

There was one queue - and the person at the top of the queue goes to the next available till - either till 1 or till 2. Sounds like you skipped.

No way, man. Two tills, two queues. It’s not the OP’s fault the others didn’t line up “correctly”.

Was it one queue and the person at the top goes to the next available of the two cashiers?
