    Hi,

Thinking of booking with Tap to Lisbon?

Has anyone flown with them on this route? How would they compare to Ryaniar/Aer Lingus?

    Thanks.

Smiliar to aer Lingus. They don't offer the free bag anymore but a nice airline to fly. They also go from the main terminal in Lisbon too

TAP are part of the IAG group (CEO Willie Walsh) which includes BA and Aer Lingus.

Above text is incorrect, I was confusing them with Iberia, their next door neighbour.

TAP is a full service airline, still partly owned by the Govt. of Portugal.

The flight is only two hours and 10 minutes (average over the past 7 days) so I wouldn't be worried too much about frills and freebies.

Do you think that WW knows this ? :D

OP, TAP are as near as you will get to an old style European state airline. Pretty serious fleet and a route map to match. Not always the best with time keeping. The terminal that they use in Lisbon may be nicer than the one that Ryanair use :p.

I think you're getting them mixed up with Iberia!

I flew with them from Dublin to Lisbon a few months and thought they were pretty good. They're definitely better than Aer Lingus and Ryanair.

The seats from the exit row back have very tight legroom so if you are in any way tall I would avoid them. However the seats in the front section of the aircraft have excellent leg room (the best of any European short haul aircraft I've been on). They also have power outlets and adjustable head rests unlike the seats at the rear.

At online check-in (opens 36 hours before departure), you will be assigned a seat. However from 3 hours before departure you can go back to the online check-in and select any available seat. I would strongly recommend doing this if you aren't assigned seats in the front section. You will need to be quick off the mark.

Onboard service is free and isn't as good as what you'd get on the likes of Lufthansa for a similar length flight but free food is rare enough now and it was quite nice.

Also be warned that their on time performance is bad. Other than that they're a very good airline. Great crew as well.
