Chrome data usage

    Posting for a work colleague.
He got an alert to say he was close to his data limit.

When he checked data usage there is nearly a straight line spike and it has stemmed from Google chrome. He closes his apps regularly.

Has anyone any idea why this would happen?

Tell him to switch providers to a decent plan.

If he's on anything under 10 gb limit then he needs to shift phone companies.

How do you know? @OP can you give us any more details on the usage of the phone, or something that your colleague might use their phone regularly for?

If the app is updated (Chrome 76.0) he can go to settings and use "lite mode" - According to this it uses 60% less data. He could try and see if this helps.

He showed me his screen and the had used about 500mb on YouTube
I take your point about browsing all month but the graph is pretty much straight vertical line... So it seems it was almost instantaneous rather than a gradual rise...
I'll say it to him about the lite version

Because his app usage stated chrome ? Did he not say that.

Not really - there are dedicated apps for videos/downloading too, and it wasn't clear from the first post. The OP has clarified since then though, so we're good :)
