Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ok so, im potentially looking at a career change but I wont and cannot afford to go back and do a 4 year degree or masters. What I wanted to know is has anyone done any short courses e.g manual handling etc that has led to getting a decent job? I don't want to be up against degree/masters candidates combined with experience when I finish the course. So yeah I guess just throwing it out there to see, im already working in I.T on a good salary but don't care for that line of work any more so I.T courses are out and in a way looking to move away from the corporate I.T world. Some course that is in demand and wont take forever to complete, don't really care about salary afterwards just to be comfortable. It might not be a once off course there might be others to do but just not a degree or masters. Anyway, broad I know but would be interested in getting any feedback if anyone has gone down this route ?

    Thanks:)

What are your general interests? What practical changes would you like to see from your current career?

For example if you wanted to be out of the office, you could do something as simple as a BER assessor course (few days I think, lots of inputting into a model) and could do it as a side job until you built up clients.

If you wanted to work with people you could do a FETAC in Healthcare support which would be anything from a few weeks to a year depending on modules.

If you wanted a higher salary, short courses to start to qualify as a financial advisor might be the way to go?

More detail on what you actually want will deffo help point you in the right direction without a 4 year degree!

You first need to decide what your salary expectations are from a new career choice.

    Minimum starting salary requirement?
    Expected salary after 5 years?

Could you become a project manager?

You have to figure out what general area interests you first or else it will be a dead-end and a wast of money, contrary to perceived wisdom lot of people have no particular interest in any area or a best a vague interest, realising that will free you from the pressure to love your job and its mostly about earning a living.

If you are a bit creative what about a weekend cookery course.
