Gunman on loose Dundalk IT

    Anybody hear about this? Just read it on the liberal.ie so not sure of its authenticity

    Gardaí have released more information on the incident at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) this afternoon, where a man was spotted with a gun.

    In a statement just released, Gardaí in Dundalk say they were alerted to reports of shots fired in Dundalk Institute of Technology at approximately 12 noon today.

    Gardaí attended the scene and can confirm that no shots were fired and a search of the area was conducted with a negative result.

    The Democrat attended the scene shortly after 3pm this afternoon. At this stage Gardaí had left the facility.

    It seems somebody with a shotgun was spotted at the playing pitches beside the college. Maybe after all the rabbits that are in that area.

    There was a false alarm at a school in Cork the other day as well re someone with a knife on the loose.

    I'd be very worried about these false reports creating actual events. In the same way suicide is infectious as it puts the idea into people's heads and it becomes a possibility.

    Didn’t even know Dundalk had an IT. What do they teach there? Tractor Maintenance and Smuggling?

    I'm a dab hand at smuggling tractors.

    They have a very large single wind turbine in the centre of campus. First (and last) of its kind in Ireland.
