Virgin media news ran a short series last week revisiting Irelands Missing Person Cases...
    Deirdre Jacobs,Trevor Deeley,Barry Coughlan...
Some of these gone without a trace cases are haunting,I can't imagine the torment it brings to a family..
Today also marks Raoinaid Murray's 20th anniversary,a case where 3,000 witness statements were taken but no suspect/motive was ever found.

What are your honest thoughts on the mentioned cases?

Regards to Barry Coughlan(his car was never found)
There was a case in Fermoy a number of years ago,a businessman was missing for over 20 years, baffled his family until human remains were found inside the wreckage of a car in the town's riverbed.
To think he was so close to home all that time.

Another missing person case from Fermoy is that of a married couple from the early 90s. No trace of their car either.

There was a really good thread on here some time ago about the Trevor case. But some wild speculation in there so it got shut down.
I am sure the families would want these cases discussed, kept in the public mind, but wary of the more barmy theories that may emerge. And of randomers on the internet saying things that may soil the character of the missing persons.
    So it's a tricky one.

With the Trevor one the gaurds are nearly sure who it is but have no evidence. He is a well known ciminal/hitman. Think the name was mentioned in Gangland thread

The rest of the ladies who are missing in east coast, doesn't take a genius to figure out who did it

The fact the guards sat on the footage of the lad waiting around outside the bank looking directly through the gate was pretty shocking.

Didn’t it accidentally appear on some local newspaper’s site? It had been in McIntyre’s show but no one said anything about it.

Really found that bizarre, if you’re trying to jog memories you need to give all the facts. All that was released at the time was that he had a brief chat with some guy outside, they didn’t mention the guy was waiting about half an hour, looks like he takes a call, steps out to the path, ducks back in, Trevor Deely passes and the guy follows him around to the gate.

Two other lads arrive at this time, turned out to be staff. One goes in, one waits, they leave and then the “unidentified” guy leaves.

Way more information that that, weirdly, “sped up” footage of the guy, who is believed to be, following him. Why was that never released in “real time”? They mentioned his “distinctive” walk but that seems to have been a product of the speeding up of the tape.

At the time it was mentioned that Mr. Deely was to meet a man and a woman when he left the office but that wasn’t mentioned again.

Were the Gardaí just bungling here? Too much work with too little resources? Too much time between the disappearance and the investigation?

    All very strange.

I read that book years ago about the missing women and I took away the fact the Gardaí seemed to know who they were looking at in a few of the cases but just can’t get the evidence.

He was seen in the vicinity of two of the cases "apparently"

I'd put my money on a murder suicide type scenario there where he drove the car into water.
Apparently the husband himself disappeared for a few years in the 80's before returning home.

Looks like Barry Coughlans car has been found. Hopefully this gives some closure to the family.

The majority of those missing women cases the main suspect is someone known to them. LM is a strong suspect in the Deirdre Jacob case, possibly Jo Jo Dullard as well though a few more names have been attached to that.

An the Garda website it says he was last seen at the The Moonduster Pub at 1:20am, was it a case of jumping in the car after a few bevvies and ending up in the water I wonder. Don't want to be speculating just a thought, regardless very sad situation whatever happened...
