Another thread looking for ideas on next car.
I am continually looking at cars online, videos etc of new , exciting cars and want to change up.

I jave a e39 530d as my daily driver and i really like it but i would like some modern convenience .

I cannot stop looking at 640d gran coupe, i think they are stunning with serious performance, but the cost is scaring me off.

So what around the 15k max mark would fit the following boxes

    Sporty ish
    Suitable for a 6 '6 person
    Not mental tax
    Not many around / popular
    Newish around 12-15 year
    Not a gtd or gti

    4 doors would be good.

When i do a search for any bmw over 2.5lt the options are a joke.. damm 2.0d engine

    Any ideas

    Thanks guys

They're nice but when you convert to € and then pay vrt you'll easily blow your 15k budget

A remap isn't necessarily a bad thing once it's been done right which in this case it has whereby a rolling road was used rather than it being a generic map with no testing.

And as long as you inform the insurance company and ask for a quote based on it.

I would really prefer a car stock and if i wanted to start tuning it i could.

Very few options aroind this price range.

Maybe the 640d will plummet after brexit

640GC. They’re just a brilliant car all round. Savage power, decent economy, €390 road tax. I’m sure if you imported you wouldn’t be miles away from €15k for one. I sold mine for 27k a year and a half ago, they’ve surely dropped another 10 since then.

That's up to the owner of the car isn't it? Not you.

Sure thing, let them invalidate their insurance by not declaring known modifications.
So it's "up to them" insofar as being legally on the road

I’m sure all remapped diesels on the roads are declared...

Nothing around 15k i would be looking at 25k.. for 640d msport.

I might be able to get to 20k but thats max.

Not really, no. Misrepresenting the car to your insurance company is fraud at minimum, which everyone else has to cover in their premium.

Yes, third party cover should always applies, but it can be far more hassle for an injured party to claim, and the insurance company may just flat out invalidate the insurance.

If I'm sharing the roads with someone, it's absolutely my business if the car isn't properly insured as it can directly affect me.

The ones that aren't declared, are effectively uninsured.

I always have a good laugh when some remapping places advertise as "Fully Insured" (ie: if you slip and fall on the premises) and "Non detectable by dealer" (ie: a complete lie)

What year is the lowest you'd go? I know of a 12 here for sale around €20k

2012 is the first year of them ?

    Is the a7 a better car ?

The 6 series started in 2011 so you can find them. 25K minimum seems strong money or else I gave mine away!!

In certain cases, the insurers don't seem to care, case in point here.
