    Hi there,

trying to find a golf-sized hybrid that has a towing facility of <700kg. Are there any options out there? ASAIK any pure EV can't be fitted with one as the batteries are in the way

Funny enough the Golf replacement, called ID.3, being launched next week is a pure EV and comes with towing as an optional exta :)

Tesla Model 3 LR AWD has one too. Off the top of my head I'm not aware of others apart from Tesla Model X.

Yeah, I know but the old dear is looking for a golf-sized hybrid option. Not an eV at she's not too keen on replanning her journeys to accommodate public chargers

The ID will not be to tow from what I know, it will just be available as option to put bike rack on etc

Now of course nothing to stop you towing with it.....just dont let VW see you at it :p

4th generation Prius (2016-current) can tow up to 725 kg. 2019 Corolla can do 750 kg. Nothing else out there that I'm aware of unless you go into crossover territory (RAV4, Outlander).

It's not about batteries being in the way, it's about weight limitations.

A Golf sized plug in hybrid that can tow?

    Golf GTE!
    https://www.carsireland.ie/detail.php?ad_id=2116681&r=s.php%3Fm%5B%5D%3D93%26o%5B%5D%3D812%26l%5B%5D%3D10%26f%3D3%26yn%3D2016%26yx%3D2016%26g%3D0

Ioniq plug in Hybrid is rated for 750kg in some country's but not here.

Auris Hybrid can tow too but only rated for 375kg

Are you looking new or second hand. Are you looking for a plug in hybrid or one of Toyota style magic self charging hybrids?

The GTE is discontinued and herself wants a new buy. Either plug in or self-contained work, it's the range anxiety the mother can't get her head around

    The GTE is not discontinued.

It will continue in the new model. They will also have midl hybrid diesel. List of options below

    • 1.0 TSI Least potent model gets 89bhp 1.0-litre triple
    • 1.5 TSI Regular petrol models have choice of 128bhp and 148bhp
    • 1.4 TSI PHEVs Plug-in models use new 1.4, rated at 148bhp or 178bhp
    • 1.5 TSI 48v mild hybrid New poster-child for low emissions and cheap cost
    • 2.0 TDI diesel 113bhp or 148bhp for those who insist on diesel
The eGolf is discontinued. It is replaced with ID.3

Well there's no new ones currently on sale, and when asked rep in Frank Keane VW said they're discontinued. But as you said there's a new one out next year

The local dealers are lazy. They didn't want to sell eGolf for years so they never bothered getting trained up. They only have now because ID is coming and they know if they dont VW might pull dealership

Now they are all certified on eGolf they seem to have forgot all about the GTE. I would ring around, VW in Athlone was selling them before

There's a brand new eGolf sitting in the showroom in Al Hayes, Portumna, if you're looking for one.

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Will do. I’ll send on the name of a dealer who has one, I was only talking to him earlier today. Indium grey.
