Junction question

Noob question, I have turned right twice on this road (I have my licence for what it's worth!) to go down Kings Inn st. and both times got the horn blown at by several drivers as I was stopped at the head of the queue.

Assuming the right hand green traffic light was for my lane, both times as I approached it the green light went out. So now no light at all was on the right hand light, and both left hand ones were red. So all three lanes are waiting, I just assume the red light on mine was broken and sat there waiting for it to go green.

However when the other two lights went green and mine stayed unlit, I wait thinking it must go green a few seconds later or something. Well after sitting there for about 5-10 seconds all the horns start going off and I panic and just very slowly turn right even though I think I should be waiting for my light to go green.

Is the light broken and sometimes doesn't even go green, or is there some rule I have missed out on? What makes me question it is multiple people beeping, cars behind me all immediately following, and this happening twice.

Are the lights circular or arrow shaped?

The traffic lights are pedestrian traffic lights from what I can tell and the junction at which you are turning right precedes the traffic lights (the turn right arrow on the road precedes the pedestrian crossing). I'd be beeping at you too :)
Just my reading of it based on the photo.

On street view (from August 2018) they are circular but unless I am getting confused with another junction I've got a feeling the light I am talking about might now be a double light (one green arrow, one unknown color :D). Would be interested in either case though

Okay so none of those lights are applicable to the right hand lane (Assuming it's a circular light)?

So why is there 3 traffic lights :)

I've no idea if the light is broken or malfunctioning but once you give right of way to oncoming traffic there's no need to wait if there's no red light at the junction.

    Don't worry about it.

It looks like that to me too. There's no stop line.

That right turn is before the lights so no need to wait, just turn as soon as it’s safe to, I’d be beeping like a mad thing too!

It's a fairly standard set up for a pedestrian crossing. 4 lights in total - 2 facing in each direction.

Theres no lights for turning right there. If that lamp in the very right hand side was meant to be a filter to turn right, it should have a right arrow. So once there is no opposing traffic and it's safe to turn, you should be able to proceed.

The traffic lights don’t apply to that turn. Go, when it’s safe.

These are similar to light on George's street heading into the city ... Junction before dame Street....

Even so call professional drivers such as taxis sit waiting as the light is red but they have no stop line and 2 it isn't a controlled junction as it's a pedestrian crossing only....

If turning right normally if it's a light like this but all roads are controlled you move out to centre once you can make it clear into the road you are going without blocking the junction.

So lights go orange/red you are still to proceed into the road you were turning into as to clear junction..

Extra large popcorn ordered but I’m not sure I’d call a taxi driver a professional :D

Agreeing with other people here - you are not going thru traffic lights turning right so go right when safe to do so
