Folks, have to fix various things around the house, notably, curtain rails to insulated plasterboard..Walls are lined with insulated boards (some thick 100mm, others a little thinner 50mm).

Seen loads of fixings online but wondering if the expanding ones still work (expand through the foam backing). I've used them on hollow walls ans they are great, so hence the query about use on insulated boards. If not any other thoughts (not a fan of Grip-Its)

For curtain rails on the screws that take the weight (normally the top ones) I always use an express nail with a rawl plug up the middle. For the bottom screws I just use plaster board rawl plugs.

Lots of other options out there, but that’s what I found works best.

Great idea, I’ll give it a spin....Swiss cheese wall awaits 😂

Your linked fixings are perfect for both insulated and non insulated PB. Use the setting tool (gun) to be sure they are properly seated. Coincidentally, they showed up in Lidl late last week at 6.99. Bought a few boxes as they always get used.

Goes without saying of course CH. But for general items such as curtain poles / rails , newer LED TVs, etc, they are excellent. Plasterboard can hold some weight once the fitting used are suitable and the load is spread. See 1min 33secs for an idea.

I have repaired plasterboard where those fixing where used to hold up curtain poles. Honestly do the job right the first time.
As said above use express nails and the raw plug. If the Insulated board is 100mm get 150mm express nails and hammer them in until flush with the board and insert a red rawplug. I've done this in 3 houses so far including my own where I have very heavy curtians (1 window has a span of just over 4m) and no issues with the fixings coming loose.

Express nails and red plugs worked a treat after SDS drill into the wall behind..followed the tip of mocking up with just plug before using the express nails...thanks folks...you learn something new every day!
