    An Ardennes type finish ?

Means one thing really : Valverde
But probably Tuens or Gilbert from the breakaway ?
I guess the break going is all down to Movistar

Sam to do a Tony Martin and reinvent himself as the new Sagan. And Nico to get a tow back into red in his slipstream.

Or, yeah, Valverde to run Nairo off the road before attacking on his escape to victory.

Outside bet, one of those pesky UK riders who are constantly talked up as the next GC great, after slipping up the road because the rest of the peloton completely forgot about them, but never get much stick for flattering to deceive... so Hugh Carthy ftw.

Tom De Gendt was doing as little work as he could possibly get away with yesterday. Just saying...

Lotto were looking interested but it's Wout Poels and Lawson Craddock up the road at the minute with less than 20 seconds of a gap.

Huge crash apparently, Eurosport should have pictures after this add. It must have been a high speed one to result on this many abandons.

    F*****************************************************************************K

Nico said last night and he was confident he could do a top 10 here
Knew it would be hard but best form in years plus fresher than most Vuelta's in recent years and thought he could get better as days went on
Plus he would have taken time back on some GC guys in the iT

    That is the worst luck

EF have been involved in about 4 crashes already. Uran hit the deck at least 3 times before today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,256 ✭✭✭MPFGLB

Nicolas Roche has crashed very heavily before ( Vuelta 2015) and kept going
Crashed in this years Tour and was hurt but kept going

Has to be serious for him to abandon

Twitter talk has Uran with broken collarbone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,256 ✭✭✭MPFGLB

after all my talk about him it looks like de La Cruz could be riding back into the top 10 today esp with Uran, de La Porte & Nico out

and G Bennett & Higuita on the ground today

and now Formolo not looking great at the back

Terrible day for EF and Irish hopes

Didn't see his crash, but the group he was in was going downhill at some pace, he was very lucky to get back on the road

He must have been off the front of the group as the others passed him and he was in a bush.

Yeah he was trying to bridge over to the 2 at the front of the race, wasn't very far ahead if memory serves

Tejay is incredible - such a gutsy, brave rider. He never gives up and fights so hard. Never fails to deliver for his fans.

Formolo cant start today after yesterdays crash and there a few other guys really badly beaten up

Here is the diary on it. Safety is not an option at this Vuelta
