    Hi there

I have not been working due to having kids past year. I only worked a few weeks in total so far so maybe 2500 earned. I started a new job full time few weeks ago-I didn't get taxed at all in first wages. Just wondering how much can I earn before paying tax again? I am married with 2 kids if that makes any difference?! apologies useless with area!!

    Many thanks for advice!

    Hi,

Presuming you are jointly assessed with your husband you can earn €8,250 without paying tax. You can earn up to €26,300 at 20% tax less PAYE tax credit of €1,650. USC and PRSI would be deductible as well.

Above is based on you being jointly assessed with your husband and you earning less than your husband.

    Hope this helps.

Note also that you won't be liable for USC if you earn less than €13,000 this tax year - however your employer may deduct it in which case you'll need to claim it back next year.
