Insurance for an older dog

We're due to adopt a rescue dog that's 7 years old. Am planning on taking out insurance, but once the dog reaches 8 does the insurance cover discontinue?

you'll need to call around some pet insurance companies (personally id recommend Allianz) and no they don't discontinued at 8... its you cant actually get insurance once they reach a certain age, but one you have it and make payments you have it.

Be sure to check with excess per claim and the 35% threshold for older dogs... I know for my dog Cody it was €100 per claim per year and we had to pay 35% of the costs.. it was still well worth it though
