Hi all, first time puppy owner am wondering if people can give any advice on which dog food is best. Puppy (Cavapoo) is almost 16 weeks old and when settling in had a sensitive tum. Seems ok now has a great appetite. Vet recommended Burns Puppy Kibble and he loves it but always seems hungry and to want more. Can anyone suggest something that might fill him up more? Also while the Burns is not top of the range it is more expensive than other brands. Are the “premium” brands really better than the supermarket ones? Any advice greatly appreciated feeling a bit confused by all that’s on offer.

Are you going by the guidelines on the bag of food? If so forget about them & feed him more food. How is his body condition? Puppies of that age tend not to overeat so he could well be still hungry! I found Burns ok but that the dogs needed more of it to maintain body condition.

The Supermarket foods tend to be low quality compared to the more premium brands. Check the list of ingredients the first should always be meat rather then grains or derivatives. You could try Red Mills Leader or the Gain Elite range. They come in small bags too. Make sure you do any food change gradually.

Thanks Knine. I paid a visit to the pet shop and going to try switch to the Gain Elite. It was what they suggested too.
