Steven Kruijswijk has abandoned due to the injuries he picked up in the crash during the TTT. Big blow for Roglic

Temperature has dropped a few degrees at the finish, which suggests weather system movement.. hope there isn't rain with the run to line we have today(6/7 roundabouts)

Not Bora for Sam as Sagan doesnt want him at the Tour (Brian Smith) and Ackerman will be at the Giro

Not Dim Data I hope ...not a great team

Not DQS either as wont have focus on him at the Tour and also dont pay top dollar...just ask Viviani (who didn't get a Tour spot)

Not sure about Katusha ...are they not merging with Direct Energie ??...This could be an option

Maybe Sunweb ? They have the bucks after Dumoulin left and need a world class winner ...

Comfortably in green though - two Irish riders in the 2 main jerseys of a grand tour. Is it the 1980s all over again?

They mentioned he went the longer way around the last roundabout and lost his position.
Then had to make up the ground.
How he sliced through to the front I don't know - some man!

Maybe Sam will learn his lesson and stop riding 24" wheels and use 700c wheels like everyone else:D

As marvin80 said, Sam lost a lot of ground when he went the long way around that roundabout. Also, where were the rest of the Bora leadout train??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,256 ✭✭✭MPFGLB

Sam ran out of road after losing time on the roundabout

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,253 ✭✭✭Boscoirl

I think Bora used up a lot of riders catching the DQS rider that went early. And sam lost the rest at that roundabout

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,552 ✭✭✭Acosta

Given how strong he was at the end he probably would have won it comfortably if he had stayed left at the roundabout.

Irishmen in the leaders and points jersey at a grand tour! What a moment.

Kudos to Jakobsen and the rest of his team. They played the the last 5 km very well

Talking about Sam on the breakaway and he strolls by in the back ground "Oh hi Sam" :D

to be fair, it looks like he actually bent his spokes with the sheer power he was putting out.

He may have been second and I don't really know what

    http://www.stickybottle.com/latest-news/sam-bennett-vuelta-green-jersey/

is all about but its one of the most powerful sprints I've seen from him. Doesn't look like there is much wrong with his form

Ad yet he has not felt well over the course of both stages ?
