Not sure if the correct place for this, but I'm on my 2nd Learner Permit, it's out of date since early last year (hadn't the money to pay the insurance crooks at 24 years old)

But know I need to start driving, so what's my course of action? I can't renew my Learner Permit as you're only allowed 2 and never applied for a test, so how do I get a 3rd one?

    Thanks

According to the NDLS you can apply for a third learner permit once you have applied for the driving test.

    Taken from NDLS:

If you are applying for a third or subsequent learner permit you must provide confirmation that you have applied for a driving test in that category or that you have failed a driving test in that category in the last two years (statement of driving test outcome)

I take it you never applied for the full test?

So would you say I've to pay the rest fee and just throw away that money and then get a licence?! Or do you think it's more I book test for say 12 weeks from now, renew licence and sit test then?

Book the test for as far out as possible, IIRC you can cancel twice with enough notice. Don't not turn up for the test.
