Right. Over the years one acquires objects. Some, one uses. Others lie there in hopeful expectation of use but are ultimately disappointed. It is time for me to acknowledge that the items below are now never going to be applied to any future projects but rather than cast them into landfill I thought I'd see if anyone could find a home for them. These are free but recipients must organise transport. (I'm based in Phibsboro in the evenings/Glasnevin in the daytime.)

Shimano HG71 8-speed chain. Never unboxed. (TAKEN)

Two Shimano Sora Triple Chainrings - never used. The large is a 52. The small is a 30.

Shimano Six-speed cassette - never used. 14 - . Some rust on a couple of teeth but suspect a quick rub will remove same.

Saddle from Trek. Far from visually pristine but still perfectly to ride. (TAKEN)

Cannondale Frame bag which notionally doubles as a shoulder pad if you're lifting the bike. Could replace a saddle bag for spins. (TAKEN)

Mavic Aksium Front Wheel. Bit of a story here. Used it on a single speed for perhaps 150km. Then got caught in a piece of loose fence cable and off I came and the two spokes were damaged. Meant to replace them and retrue then wheel but never got round to it.

Elite Trainer. Received as second hand "gift" some years ago. Have never used it but have no reason to think it doesn't still work unless lack of use has lead it to simply seize up. (TAKEN)

Two Schwalbe 700c tyres. Came with Planet X. Replaced after couple of hundred KMs. Essentially no wear on them. (TAKEN)

Steco Monkey Mee Rear Carrier. Bought this for a child who baulked at the idea of bringing a pannier to school. It basically attaches to a rear rack (still have all the attachments) and the strap secures their school bag. Found it to be pretty effective. (TAKEN)

Finally - a "Cycleways" branded bike bag. Bought probably 20 years ago but only used twice. (TAKEN)

if you have stuff that doesn't get any takers here, you're not far from the rediscovery centre in ballymun, who might use some of that.

Thanks for that. Previously unaware of their existence. Have been donating bikes to Rothar for a couple of years now but good to know there's another option.

i've dropped up a couple of things to them myself, mainly furniture (i think they're full for that now) and some bike bits, mainly unneeded tyres.

I'd take the frame bag, and possibly the bike bag as a friend may use it.

Grand so. The Cycleways bag is a piece of history: a late 20th century purchase when the shop was still in its Philip Cassidy pomp. Do you want to fire me a pm?

I would take the trainer if it works?! Also the frame bag unless the previous poster does want it. Very kind of you!

If anyone is looking, I have two cyclocross tyres that anyone is free to take.

So Dave, just for you, I actually set up the trainer and, to my surprise, it actually appears to work. It has five settings and you're not going to get much of a workout on the easiest one but the hardest is reasonably demanding. (Think 4-5% gradient.) Yours if you still want it.
