    My 09 focus has been making a ticking noise sometimes over the past week. Anyone any idea what the problem could be I was thinking it could be the timing belt. There is also a burning smell off the car sometimes, anyone any idea what this could be? Cheers

    1.6 diesel.... sorry to drag up old thread but thought I would because it might help someone else in future. Got car sorted shortly after that and it turned out that the timing belt needed doing which I think caused ticking noise.. the burning smell was as a result of one of the injectors not working.
