How to Watch Older Films

I'm interested in watching older (often black & white) films but my only option seems to be DVD box-sets as many can't be found on Netflix etc. (e.g. Hitchcock's Shadow Of A Doubt, Saboteur, The Trouble With Harry, The Man Who Knew Too Much, The Paradine Case, Lifeboat, Frenzy, The Wrong Man, Blackmail, Foreign Correspondent, Suspicion Marnie, Strangers on a Train etc.). If I buy DVDs I will then need to connect up a DVD player to view each time. Are there any other options? TIA

Thanks for the reply. I've tried Amazon Prime video but it's a bit hit-and-miss and expensive.

DVD/Blu-ray is your best bet for older films. There's no good streaming options.

This. Streaming services are generally terrible for anything pre-90s. If you have a Blu-Ray player, look into specialist distributors like Indicator, Arrow, Eureka, BFI and Criterion.

I sometimes search through amazon for second hand sellers. It helps if you have a watchlist. I use imdb.

Last time I did this i ordered a batch of pre owned DVD's featuring the likes of;

Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Dead Presidents, Amores Perros, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Awakenings, Animal Kingdom + A few more

all for about £20-30ish

Threads like this is why physical media will never die. It may get a bit diluted and it may contract a bit but no matter how good the streaming service there is always a chance the content will disappear at some point. This does not happen with physical media.

The public library system has an eclectic mix of old films on DVD scattered around the country.

North by Northwest is on there. Great movie, fantastic soundtrack too.
