Cigarette lighter socket not working while engine on

I have a 2006 Honda civic 1.4 dsi and the 12v socket is faulty. If I turn the key in the ignition, all is fine, it charges my phone for example. As soon as I start the engine it stops working. Any ideas?

Does cigarette lighter itself work if you press it in when engine is running? Have you tried using a different charger in it?

Found a 10c coin in mine a month ago. only realised after attempting to charge phone & it wasn't working. Had blown the fuse 20A so, changed it & all working fine now.
