    Can Swans land/Take off from a field etc or does it need water ?

    They most certainly can and often graze on grass and herbage in fields.

    I have never seen one land on terra firma.:confused: I take your word for it. I have never seen a swan away from water

    Look, mute swans are often in fields away from water and in good numbers at times. Whooper swans can congregate in their hundreds on farmland.

    But, don't believe it if you don't wish to.

    They need a run to take off so if they are stuck in a enclosed area they will be unlikely be able to fly away afaik
