Unreal Tournament port forwarding help

So I haven't port forwarded for a game in an excruciatingly long time and have forgotten how to do most of it. Unfortunately, all of the old school Unreal games seem to require port forwarding, and I'm reading a ton of conflicting info online so am here as a last resort.

I'm particularly looking to get an Unreal 2004 server up and running so I can play with friends that I recently gifted the game to.

Can anyone offer any help or a guide of some sort?

I remember doing it well over 10 years ago now, i can't remember the process at all now tho.
I had a quick google there, there is plenty of info available to guide you through it.

Set a static IP for the system your running the server on(found in properties of the IP protocol you are using). Then go to router to foward the ports you need forwarded and use the static IP for the system as the address for the traffic to be routed to.

You will also need DNS server addresses so grab them before you start. You ISP's default DNS servers should be fine.

It's the traffic route that I was mainly confused about, actually. Thank you!

If your router has PNP you dont need to open ports.
