    Hi all,

Drove a car (2016) I really liked and ready to buy from a VW main dealer in Belfast (Isaac Agnews).

They indicated they only offer 6 months warranty to ROI customers as opposed to 12 months to UK customers. They didn't give a reason why the difference. Is this normal?

Would be grateful for any opinions.

    Thanks

Will they cover the cost of breakdown if it's in ROI or just if car is brought by you back to Belfast? Possibly they see cost of ROI cover more expensive than they would selling to someone local up there.

I'll ask tomorrow, not sure they cover the cost of breakdown in ROI.

Is it an Agnew's or VW used car policy? As said where will be car be repaired under warranty in the South or are they going to arrange for it to be collected and returned to NI. My guess is that they have an arrangement in place with some garage in the South to do warranty work unless you live close to the boarder.

I'd say the answer to that probably has a bearing on the answer to your question. Most people buying a used car in the UK/NI may not have any warranty outside the remaining manufacturer's warranty that is transferable to ROI buyers so offering a 6 months to ROI buyers would be seen as a bonus rather than seen as a disadvantage over 12 months to NI residence.
