PROBLEM: Ride on mower - Blades slow

    Hey folks,

Hope you can help. I have a partner ride on mower with a Briggs engine. This weekend I engaged the blades and it took a few seconds for them the spool up. A notable delay.

Having gone to cut the grass - it struggled and eventually stopped cutting. Engine still run and mower drives fine

I've cleaned all the deck out and again if I start up the mower, wait a few seconds the blades spool up. But just not delivering the same power as quickly as it has.

    Any ideas?

Man with a half cut garden.

Has to be a worn or loose belt. How long since they were changed?

Sounds like the belt(s) are slipping and need replacement.

About 4 months ago, previously belt snapped so had to be replaced.

Either the blades are loose or the belt. If the belt snapped before it could be that one of the pulleys bearing are gone and the pulley is not spinning right. It's hard to tell without looking.

If there is a few hundred hours on this mower I would be looking at replacement of pulleys as well.

Also if you asked a mod to move this to the great big lawnmower thread there are guys on there more knowledgeable than me.
