Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone know where to buy this in North Dublin?

Is it different from regular malt vinegar?

Would always use white wine vinegar and just add spices to whatever I'm pickling

This is for chutney, do you think that would be ok? Gonna start with a 5th of the recipe quantities to see how it works

I think it'd be completely OK. The main this that your jars are sterilised. After that you can the spices as you cook and taste

In passing ... the 'East European' shops ( Polo Stores etc ) tend to keep an interesting selection of vinegars.

You can use any vinegar you like, different vinegar will give you different flavor, some less harsh then others, ie. apple cider, red and white wine, distilled malt and white.

Chutney , the spices are cooked in with the chutney.
Spiced pickling vinegar is used in pickled veg and is made separately.
you can buy small bags of spices, nice to make your own. but you can also buy bags of pickling spices.
good advice from above poster, ref sterillise your jars, and lids.

let us know how you get on, or you need anything else.

Love the smell of chutney cooking:)
