Leave Job?

I am currently in a pretty competitive internship over half way through. I hated it from day 1, I stuck with it, but applied for 2 post grad courses that would bring my career in a completely different direction, with the intention of just staying in my internship as riding a wave till I got to the end. I am still on the fence slightly about pursuing the post grad as I am just not 100% sure I want to pursue that career. I was thinking about not taking it up till next year when I'm more sure if this is definitely what I want to do (also I can avail of a grant next year but not this year). This has left me in an awkward situation.

I want to leave my internship (which I suck at btw-I don't enjoy it in the slightest). As part of my internship I just rotated a few weeks ago to a new dept. I have 3 options: do my post grad course this year (move away and no grant-have to organise fees and accommodation this week), 2 stay in my role-hate it, possibly get a job in the company which comes from the internship, and Pat's considerably more money (which I doubt will happen cause as I said before I suck at my job) before I leave next year or 3, leave and work a slightly less paying job somewhere else. Options 1 and 3 leave me in a frosty situation as I will have to hand in my notice to my manager and this will not go down well at all. The company and individuals have invested time and money in training me, the fact I'm only in my new rotation a month makes it worse as they have been actively trying to train me to things which I will never reciprocate back to them/utilise (ie completely wasted their time), I can only imagine the awful period/interactions with my (very small group of) colleagues between handing in my notice and actually leaving. I know any if these options is a sh1t move on my part, but in terms of guidance has anyone any advice.

Look, you are half way through it. Stick with it and then pursue your Postgrad. You will have it on your CV. I doubt that you "suck" at it really. Most companies would not waste time, money and energy in training a person in whom they did not see potential. :-)

If you are going to waste their time its better you waste as little of it as possible.

Its obv you are not going to stay there after you finish. I would let them know as early as poss its not for you to stop them wasting anymore time.

Hi All. Thanks for the advice. I decided to stick with the job even tho I hate it (and tbh I'm pretty sure I'm treading the line of being fired for incompetence-Ive had what I'm pretty sure could be classed as unofficial warning-I genuinely am not a lazy person, I've worked some extremely tough and demanding jobs in the past, in comparison, my current role should be a doddle but I just don't have any spark or interest for it)

I'm staying on purely for selfish reasons. I have given myself a deadline to get a higher paying job within the company. If I don't get a role by then I will leave and work a job in what would be considered a huge step down. Life is too short to work a job you hate. There were several people on the same internship as me, one of who received a permanent contract about 2 months ago and is now leaving the company. So if I accept a higher paying job now and work in that role for a year I don't believe I should feel bad.

Staying on in this internship will not aid in my CV. The degree I wish to pursue will convert me into a completely different direction, any work I have done up until this point will be irrelevant. I'm purely staying for the possibility of saving more money and obtaining a Susi grant (I am not out of education long enough atm to qualify)

If anyone has any further advice or think I am making a mistake, please feel free to say. I really am navigating this whole situation blind.
