Public Service Pay Restoration - Increment skip

Has anyone in the public service, recruited post 2011 received their increment jump yet? I was on point 3 on the scale and with the agreed paid deal I was supposed to skip point 4 and move to point 5 in July. I moved to point 4 and when I emailed HR they said it was “in the pipeline but they are awaiting further instruction”. As far as I was aware this was supposed to be implemented in March. Is anyone in the same boat? Thanks

Better half was on point 4, skipped point 5 and is now on point 6. This happened only a few weeks ago (may).

Thanks for that. I wonder why my place is taking longer. At least I know it’ll happen eventually though...probably...

Don't know if it matters what role you are in (I know nothing on this subject at all just I remembered a conversation from a few weeks ago). For what it is worth she is a primary school teacher.

Ah ok. I’m a clerical officer, I can imagine they’re paying the teachers as in fairness to them they’ve been out in force. Perhaps they’re paying them first and putting the rest of us on the back burner :)

I was 4 and moved to 5 in March. Happened to a few of us in work and we approached the union. We got it backdated and I was on point 6 by June.

    I’m a clerical officer!

Hiya, were you due your increment in March and they only moved you one point up?
I wish I knew someone in work who was in the same situation but everyone has been there prior to 2011. Not sure about approaching the union on my own!

Yep! I was due in March and was expecting to go straight to 6 like we were told.

The other 3 people were due jan- Feb time. They were on 3 and expected to go to 5 but went on 4.

I mentioned it to the union rep unaware that the other 3 people had also said it to him.

And it was June by the time it was rectified.

Could you say it to your rep or even contact HR- peoplepoint???

Yes I was due to skip point 4 in April. It didn't happen until July. When I emailed them I got same answer as you did . Awaiting further instructions. This is BS as someone else emailed the same day and was told we are processing as fast as we can. I emailed them about a month later and suddenly it went through. All backdated. Hassle them! Union did nothing .

I’m actually not a member of the union, think I’m going to become one though! I contacted HR and it was them who said they were awaiting further instructions. Very annoying as they didn’t give any more information than that. Not sure if it’s all staff that are in the same boat or if they’re doing it on an individual basis.

Thanks for that. I did wonder if it was everyone in my work, that perhaps they’re only rolling it out across different areas and maybe my place is just waiting for funding or something to that effect. If it’s on an individual basis though that’s very annoying! I think I’ll do the same as you and give them another month. When they backdated it were you robbed with the tax? That’s what I’m afraid of with letting it go on for months!

The standard incremental hop is done automatically by payroll as it's on the system.
The extra point as per the circular is a peoplepoint issue.
If you raise a case it will be dealt with.
An instruction will then be sent from PP to payroll and arrears paid.

I’ve actually never heard of PP, had a look there and it seems to be for the civil service? I’m public service so don’t think i have the option.

I understand, but I work for the health sector so I don’t fall into the category of civil service, I don’t think I have access to PeoplePoint

Im working on my own at the moment too, they're trying to say that because I was successful for a temp higher role covering someone's maternity that Im not eligible as it's only for entry level grades...but if I'd stayed at my old job I'd be earning more than in this temp higher job!

Oh no, really? I’m a Grade IV but I went straight in at that grade and not the basic Grade III. I think that’s why I’m afraid to rock the boat/ask too many questions to HR in case they turn around and say I’m not eligible and I’ll be there like “oh, ok...” (cringe)

That's why I found it easier to go to central HR than to local payroll/mgmt to ask in case I had my facts wrong!

I emailed them today! They said I am eligible (whew) but that it was up to local management/ payroll to implement the changes so I took that to mean that they’ll bring it in when it suits! Hopefully it’ll be by the end of the year but might follow up again in a month or 2.

I moved onto point 4 in Feb but as the circular came out in March and i was already on point 4, i was told by Union Rep that i will have to wait until Feb 2020 and then skip onto point 6.

That’s a pain! Although I can see why, as apparently you’re meant to have the jump on your next increment date after March. It’s just unfortunate yours was in February! At least you know when yours is happening anyway :-)
